An abandoned dog is lucky to be alive after she was chained and padlocked to a stop sign in the middle of a snowstorm. A Good Samaritan made the heart-breaking discovery on Detroit’s east side and reached out to the Detroit Pit Crew for help.
The 7-month-old dog was chained up tightly and with the freezing snow pelting down she simply curled up into a ball to try and keep warm. That’s how Detroit Pit Crew found her when they came out to rescue her.
Detroit Pit Crew immediately freed the Pit Bull mix, who they named Speckles, from her chain.
Speckles was shivering and wet and immensely relieved to be rescued.
Once Detroit Pit Crew got back to the shelter they immediately tried to see if Speckles had owners who were looking for her.
But she wasn’t microchipped and after searching for a while, they couldn’t find anyone. Her rescuers said that Speckles was very lucky to have been spotted by the Good Samaritan when she was because, not only could she have died from the cold, she might also have been picked up by dog fighters or harmed by other dogs or people.
