a pregnant pit bull named Blue was not receiving the proper care or nourishment and was trapped on the end of a chain.
This is no way for a dog to live, of course. Our hearts broke as soon as we saw the pictures of her all tied up like this.
No pregnant animal should be forced to live in such a manner and we cannot believe that anyone would have expected this of her. The rescuers were uncertain of her future once they arrived
They did not know if they would be able to save her or her puppies because things had gotten so bad. That’s a sad spot for any rescuer to be in and we fully understand where they were coming from on this.
Luckily, it did not take them too long to convince the dog’s original owner that it was time to give the poor dog up. Sometimes, it is hard to convince owners to make the right choice and this part of the story allowed us to breathe a massive sigh of relief.
Thankfully, Blue was given the chance to go into labor in the right setting. The rescuers got her at the right moment in time and she was saved from a far worse fate.
Once she arrived at the vet’s office, it started to feel like the puppies were never going to stop coming. She was having quite the sizable litter.
By the time everything was said and done, 13 little puppies had joined the world. We are more than happy to report that the dogs were able to be taken in by one helpful foster family. That’s right….they took in all 13!
As soon as the pups are ready, they will have the chance to be adopted by loving families. What a happy ending for such a neglectful start.
