Despite the best efforts of two protective ravens who dived and pecked at the rampant predator, he continued to raid the nest for food.

Photographer Linda Powell, captured the hilarious scene while camping near Wood Buffalo National Park in Alberta, Canada.

Linda, 56, said: “I watched in disbelief and also a bit of dismay for the ravens as they tried to fend off the bear.

“My first thought was that this bear couldn’t possibly know to climb that pole for food.

“I’ve witnessed bears and their agility and ability to climb before, but never seen anything like this.

“Of course, there was concern that the bear might fall or be electrocuted.

“But once he had raided the nest, there was a sense of mournfulness as the ravens tended to their now empty home.”

Once the hungry bear had had his fill, he fumbled his way back down the pylon before calmly wandering off.

Linda said: “I spotted the bear eyeing up the pylon but never thought it would make it.

“However, within seconds, he began to navigate his way up with relative ease.

“As he was climbing the two ravens that had been guarding the next began to dive at the bear, pecking him and squawking.

“He paid no attention to them.

“Once the bear had completed his meal, he began the journey down, not quite as gracefully, but without incident.

“When he reached the bottom, he sauntered off, like that was the way he secured his dinner every day.”
