A baby bison calf managed to win in a fight against a wolf looking for a snack.

The youngster’s incredible struggle for his life was caught on camera.

The calf was on a gravel island in Yellowstone National Park when the attack took place.

The youngster, at just seven days old, was overpowered by the current.

The family became separated, with the calf ending up on the island and spending the night by himself.

The wolf’s attack came the next day.

The calf, however, was able to defend itself and kept moving around, escaping death.

His mother soon got to the scene – and the calf was safe from harm.

Incredibly, the calf moved toward the wolf, as if challenging the creature, which moved away.
