A stray dog covered in ticks and wandering in the forest near Hot Springs, Arkansas was rescued thanks to a kind Good Samaritan who reached out to Hank’s Rescue. The dog is skinny and skittish and lurking in the woods when Liz John, founder of Hank’s Rescue, first approaches him.
In the video of the dog’s rescue, the dog bows his head down but is friendly and comes to Liz when she calls to him gently. Liz’s husband, Nick, can be heard talking in the background with the Good Samaritan who tells the couple “God bless you for what you’re doing here.”
Thankfully “Loagie” (as the dog was later named) walks right over to their car and lets them lift him inside. A closer inspection of his face reveals that he is covered in engorged ticks!
They took him to the vet immediately and Loagie was found to have a tick-borne disease. But thankfully, it was treatable. Once the ticks were cleared off and he was given a bath Loagie began to enjoy life inside and jumped on the couch to cuddle with Nick.
He wasn’t a fan of the leash but he is getting used to it. Loagie was rescued in June and by the end of summer he was adopted into a happy home. Hank’s Rescue shared on Facebook, “Loagie sure is living the life! He and his sister are inseparable, he hangs by the pool all day at his granny’s when mom’s at work, his momma ordered [a] play house and is putting his name on the wall of his room… SPOILED!! And he deserves every bit of it.”
Loagie also comes and stays over for visits with Liz and Nick too and he looks fantastic!
Thank goodness the Good Samaritan that spotted him in the woods made that call. And thank goodness for Hank’s Rescue taking Loagie in and giving him a second chance.
