Familial bonds are very tight. And that tightness extends to dogs as well. And there is a video that proved just how strong canine family bonds really are – no matter how long in between it has been since two dogs from the same family have gone without seeing one another. An adorable little golden retriever, Harper, was only 11-weeks-old when she was adopted. The day she was adopted, was the day that she last saw her mother.
While most would think that Harper would absolutely have no memory of her mom, that simply was not true. All dog owners know just how well dogs remember people and other dogs. They have feelings and form connections just like us. So, just because a dog family is separated, it doesn’t mean that they won’t remember their family members. They have feelings and can process love just like humans.
Which is why the video was so precious to watch. It showed a happy Harper, three months following her adoption, returning to the place where her mother was in order to visit. Even just pulling up to the area, Harper can be seen already visibly excited – ready to get out of the car the minute that it’s parked.
Throughout the beginning of the video, Harper excitedly pulled at her leash, ready to go. As they walk up the path, you can see a darker-colored golden retriever coming up the lane. The two dogs then met and shared a sniff. And once they had established that they were indeed related, the two dogs were visibly delighted, and could not contain their happiness at seeing one another. They played about and licked one another, clearly making up for lost time before joining one another on a wonderful walk in the sun.
This video definitely proves that dogs have so much love and emotional intelligence about them. It’s one of the many reasons that dogs are absolutely wonderful animals who we do not deserve.
