A pregnant dog was wandering the streets looking for food and shelter. She was a stray dog on her own in the world, with no one to turn to for help. She’d been wandering for days, trying for a secure spot to call home, but her luck had run out.
Unfortunately, she was hit by a fast automobile on a busy street during one of her journeys. Her Coalition collided with her, sending her flying and left her hurt and in pain on the side of the road.
She attempted to stand, but her fractured leg made walking difficult. She groaned in pain, her eyes filled with terror and uncertainty, and she dragged herself to a nearby mound of rubbish, covering herself with a soiled towel to attempt to relieve the pain.
She was in so much pain and fear that her mind and body were in shock that she couldn’t help but snap and bite anyone who ventured too close to her in order to defend herself and her unborn puppies.
Fortunately, a kind-hearted woman driving by noticed the dog laying on the side of the road. Despite the dog’s hostile demeanor, she realized she had to help.
The dog carefully talked to her in a soothing way, and to her astonishment, the dog allowed her go close enough to pick her up and bring her to safety.
The woman saw that the dog need immediate help and phoned the vet to explain the situation. The vet advised her to bring the dog to the clinic as soon as possible.
The dog was stabilized after receiving emergency care. She was then monitored to ensure that her health did not deteriorate and that the puppies were safe.
Staff took special care of the dog since they knew she had been through a traumatic ordeal.
The woman who had discovered the dog was glad to learn that she and her puppies were safe.
She paid daily visits to the dog, bringing goodies and toys to keep her entertained, but she couldn’t get rid of the guilt of having to bind her mouth and the dog’s memories of the traumatic episode.
