Porcupines are generally easy prey for grown leopards. However, young, inexperienced leopards don’t fare quite as well as their adult counterparts.
This leopard took a chance on a couple of unsuspecting porcupines wandering by. Thinking one was an easy meal, the big cat pounced on the spiky creature. The leopard appears to immediately regret the decision as it sits and rips quills out of its chest with its teeth as the seemingly unharmed porcupine scurries away.
Porcupines have up to 30,000 quills covering their body, some up to 20 inches long. We’ll stay away from those guys, thanks — and hopefully this leopard will, too.
