Dumped in the woods, this poor, heartbroken dog was just lying on the ground waiting to go. Rescuers in Romania found the Caucasian shepherd just in time as he was literally hours away from dying.
“He had nothing in him, he was lying motionless on the forest floor,” says Jayne of 1 Dog At A Time Rescue UK in the video. “He’d given up and he didn’t have the strength to do anything.”
For the first week, “Keanu” just ate and drank where he lay. He didn’t have the energy to do anything more. Slowly, Keanu’s spirit came back to him and after a few weeks he began to walk. Then he began to play. Everyone at the rescue who met him fell in love with him. Jayne says, “He’s such a gentle soul. HE’s a very special dog. He’s one in a million.” So it’s no wonder that this gentle giant found the perfect home with a family in the United Kingdom.
Seeing him now so confident and strong it’s hard to imagine he was so frail and weak when he was rescued. But two years after he was picked up off the ground, Keanu is running free and happy and has the love of a wonderful family.
