So on the extremely rare occasion they come to blows, the fights are epic.
Remarkable footage has caught one the beasts meet.
The video shows a pack of four bloodthirsty wolves feasting on a carcass as the bear appears.
Desperate for his share of the meal, the grizzly wades in but the savage dogs have other ideas.
They begin to surround the bear and try to attack it.
But the larger and more powerful beast doesn’t back down.
It stands up on its hind legs and bares its giant teeth – forcing the wolves to briefly flee.
Finally, they give up and let the bear share their dinner for the day.

“Wow the reaction speed of that bear is mental,” one user commented.
Another added: “Four full-sized wolves vs a pre-teen bear and the bear stood its ground. That’s impressive.”
But the battle was nothing compared to when a huge Siberian tiger was filmed fending off two full-grown lions.
