A green fireball caught streaking through the sky in Louisiana has sparked UFO panic among locals who believe it could have been a sign of aliens.
Ring doorbell footage captured the moment the bright emerald orb soared over the horizon at 4:30am on July 14 in the city of Gretna, just across the Mississippi River from New Orleans.
A 17-second clip from the home security device begins with a view of a dark sleepy suburban street with no signs of movement.
Suddenly, a green Great Gatsby-esque light appears from afar, seeming to streak closer to the camera from behind a house over the course of a few seconds.
It illuminates the entire sky bright white before disappearing into the night.

Ring doorbell footage captured the moment the bright emerald orb soared across the horizon at 4:30am in the city of Gretna, just across the Mississippi River from New Orleans. People from as far as Eunice and Madisonville also reported seeing the bizarre phenomenon
AccuWeather shared the clip on Twitter, describing the sighting as a ‘meteor’ – though many people are convinced it was an extra-terrestrial sighting.
‘Dazzling! A meteor lit up the sky in southeastern Louisiana yesterday morning!’ the weather service said.
‘Ring doorbell camera footage captured the incredible view from Gretna.
‘The American Meteorological Society reported 29 sightings in 6 states!’
The same spectacle was also caught on dashcam footage by a driver passing through Louisiana.
Over a few seconds, the light can be seen moving from the right to the left of the road, lighting up the sky in a dramatic projection as it crosses the horizon.
Louisiana residents from as far as Madisonville and Eunice also reported seeing the luminous phenomenon.
Others re-posted the videos on social media and speculated about potential alien life.
‘That ain’t no meteor, that’s an alien ship warping into our space and time,’ one person said of the doorbell footage.
‘UFO must’ve stopped to get a poboy,’ joked another person, referring to a sandwich originally from Louisiana, involving meat and New Orleans French bread.
This follows several other alleged alien sightings across America, including that of a Las Vegas family who dialed 911 after they saw ’10-foot aliens’ in their backyard.
A Vegas police officer also picked up a green object on the horizon at around 11.50pm, which has since been identified as a meteor by the American Meteor Society.
‘There’s like an eight-foot person beside it and another one is inside us [sic] and it has big eyes and it’s looking at us — and it’s still there,’ the son of the family told 911.
‘In my backyard. I swear to God this is not a joke, this is actually — we’re terrified,’ the caller claimed.
‘They’re very large. They’re like 8 foot, 9 feet, 10 foot. They look like aliens to us. Big eyes. They have big eyes. Like, I can’t explain it. And big mouth. They’re shiny eyes and they’re not human. They’re 100 percent not human,’ he said.
The responding officers also expressed their trepidation at the odd events.
‘I’m so nervous right now,’ one officer can be heard telling his partner on the bodycam footage.
‘I have butterflies, bro — saw a shooting star and now these people say there’s aliens in their backyard.’
The officer’s bodycam footage went viral, and the family said this led to their backyard being inundated with curious trespassers eager to see the supernatural beings.
Witnesses described something ‘100 percent not human’ falling from the sky
Police installed high-tech surveillance cameras on their roof in an attempt to keep intruders out.
Meanwhile, an attorney for the Nevada household warned they are armed with guns and could shoot any UFO sleuths who come too close.
The family – who appear to be parents and two sons – contacted the Las Vegas Police Department (LVPD) on April 30 to report seeing ’10 foot aliens’ with ‘big eyes’ as well as an object falling from the sky.
They offered differing descriptions of the ‘100 percent not human’ beings, with their alleged height ranging from eight to 10 feet.
The Las Vegas Police Department (LVPD) has since closed the case.
Almost two months after the family’s 911 call, another identified object in the sky was spotted flying over Las Vegas.
Two circular and interlocking beams of light were seen on the horizon, hovering in parallel in a clip filmed on June 22 at 10.30pm, and later posted on social media.
The unidentified white lights were in the sky for ’20 minutes straight’ according to the person who filmed it.
Earlier this month, a Tennessee congressman investigating UFOs claimed the crafts appear to ‘defy physics as we know it.’
Republican Tim Burchett believes there is no question the objects in the skies are not of this Earth and have abilities to fly underwater and never leave behind heat trails.
Republican Tim Burchett urges the US government to be honest with Congress and the public about the strange sightings in the skies. He said he is 100 percent sure he has seen compelling evidence of UFOs
Burchett – who is on the House Oversight Committee overseeing UFO hearings – said he has been shown classified footage not yet released to the public.
The congressman told the Event Horizon podcast this week that ‘we’ve been dealing [with government coverups] since 1947, probably since about 1897 in what was the Aurora Texas ‘UFO crash.’
‘They [extraterrestrial craft] can travel light years or at the speeds that we’ve seen defy physics as we know it,’ Burchett said during the podcast.
