A neglected rescue puppy has been given a second chance at life and she’s totally transformed in her new environment.
The small pup, Olive, was living in a village in South Africa, but her owners weren’t caring for her well. She was completely neglected and her owners even said they didn’t want her anymore.
When Jess with Sidewalk Specials heard about little Olive, she knew she had to step in and help.
According to The Dodo, Jess not only rescued Olive from her neglectful home but she decied to adopt the tiny pup herself!
“I just fell in love,” Jess told The Dodo. Before heading home together, Jess and Olive had to first stop at the vet. Olive would need a lot of TLC before she was ready for a “regular” dog life.
The sweet dog had pretty severe mange and cherry eye that required surgery. Thankfully, her condition was completely treatable, she just needed the right medical team and an owner that cared.
Eventually, Jess was able to bring Olive home. She told The Dodo: “We brought her home, and she was quite run down. She slept for about three days…And then just went full crazy.”
Once in her new home and atmosphere, Olive completely came out of her shell and transformed into a whole new dog! She learned that she loved to run and play and had so much energy!
But her favorite thing was socializing with other dogs. Olive made friends wherever she went and she loved other dogs so much that Jess decided to adopt her a little sibling named Rory.
Olive and Rory instantly hit things off and became life family. Despite her rough pat, Olive turned out to be the sweetest, most loving pooch a person could ask for. She just needed someone to love her and give her the care she deserved.
