Heartwarming footage has emerged of a deer being rescued after it managed to get itself trapped between two large hay bales.
Kevin Meier from Brookings, South Dakota, filmed the rescue mission underway one snowy day last month.
Video shows a farm forklift rolling forwards and craning one of the bales up to the sky in a bid to free the antlered animal.
The young buck is seen staring at the camera wide-eyed as it stands unable to move.
Once the bundle of straw is removed the whitetail buck staggers back.
It is then limps forwards slightly before energetically bounding away.
Temperatures in South Dakota continue to dip below freezing.
It appears the deer was baled out just in the nick of time.
