Many of these rescues look so hopeless and depressed when they’re first brought into shelters or animal rescues. However, usually with some time and a lot of love, they perk up to show their true, happy selves.
Sidewalk Specials stated in the video below, “Bean was picked up on the streets of Bishop Lavis, Cape Town. Covered in deep bite wounds, with mange, ear infections and a broken leg that had been left untreated for over a year, Bean seemed resigned to his fate.”

Given how awful his life had been, it was not surprising that he was initially very depressed and broken-hearted when they first picked him up.
However, after a year of recovery, Bean’s transformation has been amazing. While the rescue admitted that the full horror of Bean’s past will never be known, they are extremely grateful to all their supporters who donated or shared Bean’s story on social media, as it made a world of difference in helping the dog recover.
As Sidewalk Specials happily announced, “Bean got a second chance at life and is now the happiest dog in Cape Town!”
