Pei Yan Heng saw a tiny octopus stranded on the sand at Cyrene Reef in Singapore and decided to lend the little creature a hand. But he was surprised by what it did after he saved it.
Heng writes, “Released a stranded octopus that got stuck on the sand when the tide went out in the shallow water.
After recovering, the octopus moved towards my left booties and placed one of its tentacles on my booties for some time before moving off.” He believes it was the octopus’ way of thanking him for his good deed.
Octopus in the wild have been observed doing all kinds of unusual behavior, behavior that seems to reveal they are much more intelligent creatures than we might think.
