When Annie was in the Turks and Caicos islands, she was studying as a foreign student. Those islands are in the Atlantic Ocean and are a British overseas territory located southeast of the Bahama Islands.
Annie was there to study but she had an experience that she will never forget. She was out exploring the island when they found a puppy wandering all by herself.
According to The Dodo, the puppy seemed to be asking for help and Annie couldn’t help but feel as if she needed some assistance. It really made them feel for the little dog, and they knew they needed to help.
Annie and those with her were aware that homeless dogs were part of the Caicos Islands. They looked around and hoped that the mother would come to get the pup, but hours passed without the mother dog stopping by.
That is when they realized the little dog was alone. They made the decision to bring the dog back to Annie’s place.
As the school program was nearing an end, they only had two weeks before they would leave the island and return to the United States.
Since time was of the essence, they contacted the Turks and Caicos Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SCPA). She wanted to bring the dog back to the United States with her.
It didn’t take long before the SCPA approved the request. They even assisted so that all of the travel documents and vaccinations were cared for.
After getting everything in order, they started the 1600-mile trip back home. The little puppy slept on the flight and when they landed in Illinois, Annie went to work making a comfortable spot in the home.
The new puppy was named Midge. Annie settled her into the home and introduced the dog to her parents. They were happy to have a new pet in the family.
Midge was also introduced to the other dogs, Millie and Artie. Those dogs were curious, and they quickly formed a bond.
It was nice to see this little puppy become something beautiful. All it took was a kind heart and a helping hand. You can see more in the video below:
