Nicole Marie Wasieleski didn’t plan on taking in another furry friend from the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, a shelter she actively supports. However, her plans changed as she laid eyes on a senior dog who was lonely in her kennel. The dog’s face stayed with Wasieleski, and she couldn’t resist meeting the charming canine. Wasieleski explained that the dog reminded her of an affectionate wolf. The older pup was extraordinarily quiet and well-behaved.
Kairi, a 10-year-old pooch, has undergone a lot of ups and downs in her life. Losing her first family unexpectedly took a toll on her, and even after finding a new home with Wasieleski, Kairi was struggling to settle in. In order to give her a sense of belonging and security, Wasieleski decided to take her on a special outing to a pet store where Kairi could pick out a toy that she liked. And as it turns out, Kairi knew exactly what she wanted.
According to Wasieleski, Kairi selected a hilarious pink dinosaur and they had a good laugh over it. They even attempted to offer her other toys, which seemed more ordinary, but she disregarded them and held on to her favourite dinosaur. Despite being worth only $17, Kairi values it tremendously and refuses to let it go. She carried it all around the store and up to the register.
According to Wasieleski, Kairi has developed a strong attachment to her new toy since she first received it. She loves to play and cuddle with it, and even allows her other canine companions to join in on the fun. However, unlike her other toys, Kairi is careful not to shred or destroy Dino. This is because Dino plays an important role in helping Kairi cope with her separation anxiety. Kairi has a tendency to chew on carpets when left alone, but crate training with Dino has been a game-changer. With Dino by her side, Kairi feels more secure and no longer barks or scratches at her kennel.
Kairi is getting used to her new surroundings and often expresses her gratitude by placing her big, gray paw on her owner’s arm. Despite her age, she still has an impressive amount of energy and enjoys playing with her owner’s other young dogs. She also loves to take breaks to snuggle with her owners or her favorite toy, a dinosaur.
Despite Kairi’s growing independence, her family remains prepared in case Dino gets lost. Wasieleski revealed that her father has already bought another dinosaur from the store as a backup. This is to ensure that Kairi will not be without her beloved toy in case it goes missing.
