Stranded great white shark rescued in Massachusetts (VIDEO)

It took more than an hour of teamwork by beachgoers and officials to get a stranded great white shark back into the water in Cape Cod, Massachusetts this week.

Bystanders kept the shark wet with bucketfuls of water until Marine Fisheries officials arrived to tow the animal back out to sea.

Witnesses told local media that the shark, a juvenile male measuring in at around seven feet (two metres), became stranded after attempting to catch seagulls on the sandbar.

The animal was eventually freed a mile offshore.

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, which assisted with moving the shark, also posted video and images of the rescue.
