Two Massive Leopards Battle It Out For A Hunting Spot

Leopards are the most territorial animals in the jungle and once one encroaches on another’s territory, deadly fights that can sometimes lead to death usually ensue.

These animals are known to be solo hunters and extremely solitary except during mating seasons or when a female has cubs. Not two or more male leopards can live in one area as it is in their best interest to hunt freely and get as much food as possible.

It is for this reason that they fight whenever they cross paths.

A viral video is making rounds on social media after one of the rarest sightings was captured just outside one of Kruger National Park’s largest rest camp and administrative headquarters, Skukuza in South Africa.

Two massive leopards from either side of the Sabie River met in the middle of the road and had a go at each other right in front of tourists who were lucky to capture the rare incident and shared it on one of the popular South African animal sightings Facebook page called Latest Sightings – Kruger.

The video has amassed more than 70, 000 views in less than 5 hours after being posted.

After the fierce battle ensued, one of the leopards with darker spots and seemingly the smallest of the two admitted the loss in both the fight and the territory. It is, however not clear what happened after the fight as the video was cut short.

Watch the video below;

Leopards have strong and excellent tracking senses that allow them to smell each other’s scent from a distance. This is one method they use to demarcate each other’s boundaries as they maintain a certain distance from each other over scents.
