Shocked bystanders have managed to capture the moment a black bear overpowered and took down a squealing hog in Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains.
The gruesome ordeal took place by the side of a highway in Gatlinburg, south east of Knoxville, on Tuesday.
Multiple motorists stopped to film the battle between the bear and hog.
Philip Talbot, who is an avid hunter, was among those who parked just feet away as the bear attacked the hog.
Talbot started filming after the bear had already attacked the hog and was trying to drag the squealing animal by its neck up a steep embankment.

The hog could be seen repeatedly trying to break free from the bear’s grip.
For much of the 10 minute video, the bear had the hog by the neck and, at one point, the animal’s flesh was clearly visible.
As the fight wore on, the hog continued to squeal but eventually stopped struggling.
‘This is unbelievable. This is crazy,’ Talbot can be heard saying in the harrowing footage.
‘Man, he’s got blood all in his mouth… He about got his whole neck bit off.’
Eventually, the hog appeared to be paralyzed in a ditch of water.
The bear briefly retreated further up the embankment as it watched over the hog’s body.
‘I think the battle is over. He’s going to come back and eat it later,’ Talbot could be heard saying in the video.
